Welcome Back: 21 Days of Transition Prayer Begins!

It’s great to be connecting with you again, and I owe you an explanation about our recent quiet season. First, let me address the elephant and donkey in the room (because as a nonpartisan site, we can’t play favorites with our political animals, can we? 😊).

A Personal Update

Some of you might have noticed we’ve been a bit quiet since the election challenge. If you caught our blog post from November, you might remember I was in a minor car accident - got rear-ended and ended up in the ER. That’s actually why our last virtual prayer meeting was delayed. The recovery journey has involved more physical therapy, stretches, and heating pads than I ever expected to become acquainted with!

Ministry Context

For those who might be new here, let me give you a quick overview of where we fit in the bigger picture. PrayForTheUSA.today is actually part of something larger - we’re a project of Prayer Nook, which itself is part of The Christian Chain’s ministry family. We work alongside Partners in Unity and Samaritan Bags, plus several other initiatives. Running these ministries has always been a step of faith, but these past few months have taught me some important lessons about limitations and listening to God’s timing.

Recent Changes

Between managing recovery, focusing on our Advent devotionals, maintaining multiple ministry platforms, and trying to maintain some semblance of a personal life (did I mention being a father to four kids and husband to an amazing wife?), I had to make some tough choices.

You know that saying about how God never gives you more than you can handle? Well, here’s a little theological tidbit - that’s actually not biblical! (Ask me about that sometime!) The truth is, God often gives us more than we can handle precisely to remind us that we need to lean on Him more and be willing to adjust our pace.

Exciting New Beginning

But today, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our 21 Days of Transition Prayer! Our first prayer was released this morning at 7:00 AM Mountain Standard Time, and we’ll continue each day for the next 20 days. Each prayer has been carefully prepared and scheduled, ready to guide your conversations with God about our nation.

We’re focusing on three key areas: - Days 1-7: Praying for Congress (Power transition on January 3rd) - Days 8-14: National Unity Focus - Days 15-21: Executive Transition (January 20th)

Our Heart Behind This Initiative

In times of transition, it’s easy to get caught up in the politics and forget about the power of prayer. This challenge isn’t about taking sides - it’s about taking our concerns to the One who holds all sides in His hands.

Remember this truth: “It doesn’t matter who sits in the White House or who holds the majority, because we know Who sits on Heaven’s Throne and Who holds the Authority.” God remains sovereign, and we can bring our requests before His throne with confidence.

How You Can Participate

While I’m still in recovery mode and operating with limited resources, I believe that’s exactly where God can do His best work through His Body here on earth. Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we begin these 21 days of prayer for our nation, we come before Your throne with grateful hearts. You are the ultimate authority, the King of Kings, and our source of hope. Lord, as our new Congress prepares to begin their session, and as our nation moves through this season of executive transition, we ask for Your divine guidance and peace over every step.

We pray specifically for the new Congressional session beginning January 3rd - that You would grant wisdom to every representative and senator as they take their oaths of office. Guide their hearts in setting priorities that honor You and serve the American people.

Father, we also lift up our nation’s executive transition process. As we move toward Inauguration Day on January 20th, we ask that You would oversee every detail, guiding our nation with Your steady hand through this time of change.

Lord, we ask that You would use these coming days to strengthen the bonds between Your children across our country. Help us to see each other through Your eyes of love and grace, especially during times of transition and change.

We lift up all our leaders to You, asking for Your wisdom to guide them and Your peace to guard their hearts. And Father, we pray that through this season of prayer, You would reunite our hearts in the hope that can only be found in You.

Thank You that even when we feel divided, You remain constant. Even when we feel uncertain, You remain sovereign. Use these prayers, Lord, to draw us closer to You and to each other.
