Day 6

Scripture: Exodus 18:21-22 (NASB)

“Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. Let them judge the people at all times; and let it be that every major matter they will bring to you, but every minor matter they themselves will judge.”

Today’s Prayer:

Sovereign Lord, we praise You as the ultimate authority who establishes all earthly governance. We exalt Your wisdom in providing models of representative leadership throughout Scripture, showing us how to organize and lead Your people with justice and care.

We repent of taking our representative system for granted, sometimes failing to engage with or pray for our leaders as we should. Forgive our apathy and neglect of our civic responsibilities.

Following Moses’ example in Exodus, we ask that You would help our representatives be “able men and women who fear God, people of truth who hate dishonest gain.” Guide them to serve their constituents faithfully, maintaining clear channels of communication and genuine concern for those they represent. Help them balance the many demands on their time while staying connected to the real needs of their districts.

We yield to Your perfect plan for our representative democracy, trusting that You can work through our system of government to accomplish Your purposes. Guide our nation’s leadership structure to serve as a blessing to all people.

Amen.
