Day 2
Scripture: Mark 10:42-45 (NASB)
“And calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, ‘You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles domineer over them; and their great people exercise authority over them. But it is not this way among you; rather, whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wants to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.'”
Today’s Prayer:
Almighty God, we come before You acknowledging that all true authority flows from Your throne. We praise You for the perfect example of servant leadership shown through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who taught us that true greatness comes through humble service.
We repent of the times we’ve misunderstood leadership as a position of power rather than an opportunity to serve. Forgive us when we’ve sought authority for personal gain rather than the common good of those we’re called to serve.
As Mark’s Gospel reminds us, Your Son came not to be served but to serve. We ask that You would instill this same spirit in our Congressional leaders. Grant them servants’ hearts that seek the welfare of their constituents above personal gain. Help them understand that their position is not a throne of power but a towel of service, following Christ’s example.
We yield this prayer to Your perfect will, trusting that as we seek to model servant leadership in our nation, You will guide us toward Your ideal. May our leaders’ service bring glory to Your name and blessing to our nation.
Amen.
