Today's devastating loss touches multiple communities - from young athletes and their families to military service members, from first responders to local communities. As we process this tragic event, we're called to remember that each person lost was someone's child, parent, spouse, or friend.<br /> <br /> The Scripture reminds us that "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). This promise takes on deeper meaning as we witness communities coming together to support those who are grieving. Today’s Prayer

Compassionate Father, our hearts are heavy as we come before You following the tragic aircraft collision near our nation’s capital. We lift up the families and loved ones of all those aboard American Airlines Flight 5342 and the Black Hawk helicopter. Lord, You tell us in Psalm 34:18 that You are close to the brokenhearted, and we pray for Your presence to be felt deeply in this moment of profound loss.

Your Word assures us that You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. We cling to this promise as we pray for all those affected by this devastating event.

Lord, wrap Your loving arms around those who have lost loved ones – parents, children, spouses, friends. We especially pray for the figure skating community mourning the loss of athletes, coaches, and family members. Comfort the military families who lost their brave service members. Grant strength to the first responders working in difficult conditions.

Guide the recovery efforts, Lord. Give wisdom and endurance to those working at the crash site. Provide clarity to investigators seeking answers. Help communities come together to support those grieving.

May Your peace that passes all understanding guard the hearts and minds of all those affected. We pray for our nation as we mourn together, asking that You would unite us in compassion and support for one another.
