A Nation United in Prayer: Honoring a Life of Service

Today's Focus

United in prayer as we honor a life dedicated to serving others

Today's Verse

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
~ Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)

Today’s Reflection

In moments of national reflection, we are reminded that true greatness lies not in positions held, but in lives dedicated to serving others. Today, as our nation pauses to honor former President Jimmy Carter's legacy of humanitarian service and faith in action, we're called to consider how we too might dedicate our lives to the service of others.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, today we come before You in a moment of national reverence and reflection, as we honor the life and legacy of service demonstrated by former President Jimmy Carter. We lift up his family during this time of transition and remembrance.

Your Word teaches us in Philippians 2:3-4 to value others above ourselves and to look to the interests of others. We thank You for those who exemplify these principles through lifelong dedication to humanitarian service and peace.

Lord, we specifically pray for comfort and strength for the Carter family as they say their final earthly goodbyes. ››› continue prayer here ››› Embrace them with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. We pray especially for the community of Plains, Georgia, as they welcome home their native son one final time.

Unite our hearts as a nation in gratitude for a century of service that has touched countless lives. May this time of mourning also be one of inspiration, calling us each to consider how we might better serve our neighbors and communities.

Guide all those gathering at memorial services today. May their time of remembrance strengthen their own commitment to serving others. We pray for our nation, that we might be inspired anew to look beyond ourselves to the needs of others.

In Your mercy, hear our prayers. Amen.
